If you are moving to the Central Ohio area and are looking for a great place to live, then a Lewis Center home might be the right choice for you. Located about 30 minutes due north of downtown Columbus, it is a proposed city site just west of Alum Creek State Park, a popular water recreation site in Central Ohio. Though it is officially unincorporated and therefore remains a part of Orange Township, there has been a recent push to incorporate the quickly growing area into its own town.
Currently Lewis Center is a collection of housing divisions and suburban plots, featuring a range of houses that enjoy values well above state averages across most categories. Though it offers upscale housing options, the setting tends to concentrate on suburban-style neighborhoods rather than large estate plots. Because of this, it represents an upscale yet more affordable option than several of the other suburbs north of Columbus. There are wide number of single-family homes with spacious yards and prices ranging from the mid $100,000s to $400,000-plus and beyond. The area also enjoys a relatively low cost of living, low crime, poverty and unemployment rates, and amenities that reflect a vibrant economic zone. The area has more restaurants and shopping outlets per capita than state and national averages, reflecting a community that is robust and growing quickly.
Lewis Center is served by the Olentangy Public School District, which currently maintains 14 elementary schools, four middle schools and three high schools. Together, these schools earned a state rating of “Excellent” for the 2009-2010 school year. Though it is not yet an officially recognized city, residents can enjoy the offerings of neighboring Orange Township, a town that offers a number of public parks, trails and an aquatic center featuring a pool, water slides and community events.
Lewis Center itself also has a number of attractions and facilities available, including a 9-hole public golf course, several parks including the Highbanks Metro Park, which offers a dog park, walking trails and cross-country skiing in the winter. The area is located just west of Alum Creek State Park, which offers a wide range of activities including swimming, boating, camping and horseback riding. The fast-growing community has not just attracted residents, but a number of businesses have branches open to serve the people of Lewis Center featuring a wide variety of shopping, dining and entertainment options. These are located in several shopping centers spread throughout the region. Residents can also visit the nearby Olentangy Indian Caverns, a maze of naturally-formed caves that also offer activities such as miniature golf, gem mining, a petting zoo and climbing tower.
The area is also home to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in neighboring Powell, the Zoombezi Bay Water Park and the Wyandot Lake Adventure Park. The Columbus Zoo in particular offers a unique combination of world-class exhibits and facilities and family-friendly atmosphere and pricing. If you are a home buyer looking for a community that is quickly establishing itself as an ideal place to live, Lewis Center offers an ideal location and an established residential zone that will enjoy many years of growth and development because of its many offerings.
Anybody looking to move to the Central Ohio area should take a close look at Lewis Center. With its great school district, incredible attractions and strong real estate market, a Lewis Center home would be a great choice.
